The music of New York City based rock band, Changing Modes, began quietly in the mid-90’s when the principal songwriter of the band, Wendy Griffiths (vocals, keyboards, bass) started making her “bedroom tapes.” She says she had no intention of making these songs public. “They were like art songs with very unusual rock beats,” Yuzuru Sadashige (bass, guitar) recalls. “She programmed very complex layers of accompaniment on her Yamaha SY77, then sang along to record onto her $30 Sears tape recorder, very LoFi, you would hear house noise and car horns in the background, but they were extremely interesting and totally unique.”
Lucid Culture (www.lucidculture.wordpress.com) describes their music very well: "New York art-rockers Changing Modes leap from one radically dissimilar style to another with gusto, guile and a tunefulness that won’t quit. Blending classical flourishes, punk energy, playful and clever lyrics that draw on 80s new wave and a ubiquitous element of surprise, every time you think you’ve got them figured out, they drop something new on you."
The band has released seven albums and two EPs and have been actively performing their strangely catchy and complex music in New York, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Charlottesville, Philadelphia Toronto and Washington D.C. The band has performed alongside The Ditty Bops, Brandi Carlile, Howie Day and King Missile.
“Rockland County NY based artist Marcus Charles is a man of many talents. Besides writing raps, he also plays the roles of producer and sound engineer. After dropping his self produced mix tape 'On A Hill, In The Trees' late last year, he is now back with new material. His first release for the year is the music video for his single "Action" which is an upbeat, energetic cut that puts the young emcee in his element. We get to see him traverse the under belly of Chinatown while kicking some heavy bars about his personal growth in the industry. Like the title of the song says, he aims to keep the momentum going with the mantra Say less. Action is the only truth.”
Originally from Connecticut, Nik has a strong background training in dance, music and working in the fashion industry. Her artistry presents a fine mix of her R&B vocals and Pop persona as an entertainer. Her debut single "Love Me Crazy" received major radio play on Sirius XM: Venus and reached Top 10 on the U.K. Urban Charts!
Maxx Moor is a young R&B artist Born and raised in the Bronx, he is strongly influenced by hip-hop culture, jazz and R&B. Growing up studying classical music and West African drumming, Maxx's artistry is very much diverse. After a few years of experience in the industry, Maxx is now in studio finalizing his first EP project planned to drop early next year!
