KOLARS, Fiona Silver, Coyote & Crow
KOLARS is a band of two members.
Rob Kolar sings and strums his rollicking guitar, Lauren Brown uses her whole body as a percussive instrument.
KOLARS has created a sonic world that straddles self-described genres such as Desert Disco, R&Beyond, Space Blues, and Glam-a-billy. Rob produces, mixes, and writes the material. His studio experimentation is incorporated into the live show. Lauren has invented her own drumming style. She tap dances rhythms with her feet atop a bass drum while simultaneously playing a stand-up kit. She uses this dance to transform beats into natural extensions of her movement. The two perform with energy, sweat, and excitement, thrilling audiences with their unabashed exuberance.
As members of glam-folk band He's My Brother She's My Sister, Rob and Lauren toured the U.S. and Europe extensively and sold out venues in every major city across the states, playing Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Voodoo, Firefly, Secret Garden Party, and Austin City Limits, and performed on late night television (Craig Ferguson).
Fiona Silver is a young heart with an old soul, spinning captivating musical tales. Her smoky voice and smoldering stage presence have already lead her to special appearances and accolades from numerous outlets including NPR’s All Things Considered, Go! Magazine who nominated her for Best Musical Performer, and Curve Magazine who had her high on their list of Most Desirable Women between Pink and Tegan & Sara. Silver is endorsed by Luna Guitars along with 5 time grammy winner India Arie and other artists like Pipo Torres (Sie7e) and Girl in a Coma. She has graced the stages of many popular NYC venues including Mercury Lounge, Brooklyn Bowl, Knitting Factory, Manderley Bar (Sleep No More), and Ace Hotel where she held a residency. Silver has also played venues across the country from Richmond, Virginia's The Camel to Austin's legendary Hole In The Wall. Silver combines her wide range of influences including Billie Holiday, Courtney Love, Portishead, and Aretha Franklin to create a sound that is edgy yet sophisticated, sultry and soulful. She has shared the stage with a diverse array of bands including Shakey Graves, Leah Segal, Dragonz of Zynth, Mike Doughty, Julian Velard, Anya Marina, and Breedlove. Silver is currently at work on a series of new releases which will premiere in late summer of 2014.
