Midnight Spin

Brooklyn rock band Midnight Spin was voted winners of the 2010 Independent Music Award for Best Indie/Alt./Hard Rock Song "Trigger Finger Itch". The band is currently working on their debut full-length album in NYC that will showcase both their songwriting range and overall ambition. Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Weezer) has signed on to produce/mix the project.
The quintet was also voted NYC’s Best Emerging Artist of 2009 by the Deli Magazine’s readers, and at the 2010 CMJ Music Marathon, the Examiner.com declared them one of their “Top 10 CMJ Picks.” And it’s easy to see why - knifing guitars, driving basslines and powerhouse drumming give Midnight Spin an aggressive indie rock bent, while intricate keyboards and strong harmonies provide a familiar melodic dynamic. It doesn't hurt that drummer Danny Scull and singer Mike Corbett have been playing together since they were thirteen.
After moving into a cramped music studio under the JMZ train during the winter of 2007, the two friends and musical mates set out to pave the streets of Brooklyn with their brand of loud, exuberant rock. Ben Waters, a multi-instrumentalist and college roommate of Danny's, was recruited to play bass, while the band received a gift from Craigslist when experienced guitarist and vocalist Jim Terranova responded to a post. Keyboardist Jeremy Cohen completed the lineup when he first took the stage with the band in July 2009 at the release of their debut EP, the critically-acclaimed Through the Mojo Wire.
The band, described by the Midpoint Music Festival official guide as “a classic rock-informed amalgamation of The Killers, The Strokes, and The Bravery,” recently wrapped up a summer tour promoting their Nic Hard-produced EP. Barely two years in, Midnight Spin has already accomplished what few bands ever do, including sharing the stage with Guns ‘n Roses, seeing their first music video aired on MTV, and selling out legendary venues like New York’s Mercury Lounge.
Your Sister's Canary

Your Sister's Canary is a lot like a smoothie:
1. Begin with a healthy dose of blues.
2. Add a dash of pop for sweetness.
3. Combine equal parts jazz/rock.
4. Blend and enjoy the fresh taste of their debut album:

Catch Wild

CATCH WILD began as an acoustic duo in November 2009, when singer/songwriter, Jessica Rose, and guitarist/songwriter, Doug Atkins, both Syracuse University Alumni, realized they had a special and unique writing dynamic together. In March of 2010, the duo added powerhouse drummer, Shawn Fichtner (Tokyo Rose, Action-Reaction) and Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of Music graduate, Eric Swiontkowski on bass, giving the group a swift kick into a powerful and unique sound.
The band has performed at various well-respected NYC and NJ venues like Maxwell’s, Fontana’s, Crash Mansion, Highline Ballroom, and the Gramercy Theater, to name a few. They were chosen by Fuse’s Allison Hagendorf and Grammy-winner THE-DREAM as the best act in a talent contest sponsored by VH1 in May 2010.
CATCH WILD recently finished recording their debut album, Waking Up With Fire, at Big Blue Meenie Studios (Taking Back Sunday, Thursday) in Jersey City. It will soon be available on iTunes, Bandcamp, and all other services.
The Yes Way

The Yes Way are RethinkPopMusic's newest and most exciting artist. The Yes Way's sound draws influence equally from the catchiest Beck, the moody expanses of Grizzly Bear and the raw power of Led Zeppelin. Their songs are based in intricate melody-chord relationships and driven by a propulsive rhythm section... a fusion that is raw, energetic and delicate. Despite NOT having an album pressed The Yes Way have been playing New York's most noteworthy venues (Mercury Lounge, Santos Party House, The Studio at Webster Hall) for about a year, but all tour and album release aspirations have been on hold until Aaron (vox/guitar) recently took a leave of absence from the critically acclaimed Xylos. Since then, The Yes Way have played multiple SXSW 2010 showcases, Kahbang Music Festival with OK GO, Free Energy and B.O.B and were voted the Deli Magazine's Band of the Month for September 2010. In the next few months The Yes Way will hit the road once more with appearances at Midpoint Music Festival (Best Coast, Surfer Blood, Ted Leo), CMJ 2010 and the Miami Music Festival (Headliners TBD) before going into the studio to record their debut album at year's end.
